Meet Katie

Katie Post is a seasoned nonprofit executive with over 24 years of experience leading high-impact fundraising, grantmaking, and partnership development efforts across Atlanta and nationally. She began her career in New York City as a communications specialist at McKinsey & Company, where she supported the writing and research of The War for Talent—a landmark publication on leadership and human capital strategy.

In 2014, Katie founded and launched the Office of Partnerships and Development at Atlanta Public Schools, raising over $42 million to support students and schools by connecting APS with corporations, foundations, and nonprofits. Since then, she has held leadership roles at Breakthrough Collaborative and Breakthrough Atlanta, raising support for expanding access to high-quality, college-preparatory opportunities for underrepresented students, while empowering the next generation of diverse educators.

Today, as Executive Director of Atlanta Partners for Education (APFE), the nonprofit foundation for Atlanta Public School, Katie is leading the organization’s revitalization, strengthening its infrastructure, and building a sustainable fundraising strategy to close equity gaps across the district. Under her leadership, APFE serves as a strategic connector and fiscal agent, aligning public and private resources to accelerate academic achievement, support whole-child development, and invest in the educators and families who shape Atlanta’s future.

Known for building powerful partnerships and aligning donor investments with strategic priorities, Katie brings deep expertise in education philanthropy, nonprofit growth, and civic engagement. A former founding leader of the Atlanta Families’ Awards for Excellence in Education, she remains passionate about advancing equity and opportunity for all students.

When she’s not moving the needle for underrepresented students, Katie can be found volunteering, running, reading, or spending time with her husband and their five children.
